Mandy asks…
High blood pressure during pregnancy…?
Has anybody had high blood pressure during pregnancy? I’m 18 weeks. At 12 weeks blood pressure was fine. Since then Dr told me I had high blood pressure. I have constant headaches, could this be caused by the blood pressure? How else does high blood pressure effect pregnancy? I am aware of pre-eclampsia but I was hoping for other ways blood pressure effects pregnancy… pre-eclampsia can’t occur before 20 weeks. I’ve had high blood pressure since my check at 15 weeks.
Pat answers:
High blood pressure usually doesn’t cause symptoms. But very high blood pressure sometimes causes headaches and shortness of breath or changes in vision. When high blood pressure starts after 5 months, it may be a sign of a preeclampsia. Why don’t you invest in a blood pressure monitor? You should also rest and try to reduce blood pressure naturally (check google)
